Dubai's Solar Park to produce 13 megawatts of power by year-end

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), chaired the 23rd meeting of the DSCE.

The meeting was attended by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice-Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), Ahmed Butti Al Muhairabi, Secretary General of the DSCE, Abdullah Kalban, President and CEO of Dubai Aluminium Company (Dubal), Abdullah Abdul Karim, Director General of Department of Petroleum Affairs, Saeed Khoory, CEO of Emirates National Oil Company (Enoc), Waleed Salman, Chairman of Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence, Jeff Severin, GM of Dubai Petroleum Establishment, and representatives from Dubai Supply Authority.

The participants were briefed about the progress of work of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Project for Solar Park, the first phase of which will be completed before the year-end with production of 13 megawatt.  

They discussed a number of issues, including energy efficiency, relevant initiatives and special procedures to streamline the trade of petroleum products in the emirate.

After the meeting, Al Tayer said the members of DSCE reviewed projects, programmes, management of energy demand, funding mechanism, policies, laws and roadmap to reduce energy demand by 30 per cent in line with the Dubai's Integrated Energy Strategy 2030.
