An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale hit the Swat Valley and Malakand district and the surrounding areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in northwest Pakistan and Baltistan on Wednesday night.
Meteorological Department (PMD) has identified the centre of the earthquake in an area located on the borders of Afghanistan and Tajikistan. The earthquake was at a depth of 112 km and no information were available about any causalities.
