His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai attended the opening ceremony of the 6th edition of the Education Without Borders forum at the Burj Khalifa in Dubai on Monday.
Hosted by the Higher Colleges of Technology, the forum will see the participation of more than 1,000 students representing 300 universities from the UAE and over 130 different countries.
Also present at the opening ceremony were Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chief Executive of Emirates Group Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Education Humaid Mohammed Obeid Al Qattami, Director General of Dubai Department of Information Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Director of Dubai Ruler's Court Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shebani, Commander General of Dubai Police Lt. General His Excellency Dahi Khalfan Tamim, educational leaders and a large gathering of national and international students.
Following a rendition of the national anthem, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak gave a speech during which he welcomed the guests and thanked Sheikh Mohammed for his support for young people and education. Such support, he added, allowed the country's sons and daughters to develop their knowledge and play an integral role in the information age.
The Minister of Higher Education went on to praise Sheikh Mohammed's initiatives to support young people, including the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders. He called on the forum's participants to embrace the principles of peace and tolerance, saying that the conference reflects the wise policies of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
