A new initiative was recently launched by the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Prosecution to solve and finish illegal workers cases within one working day.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, Chancellor Ali Humaid bin Khatem, Advocate-General and Head of Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Prosecution, said they launched this initiative in the beginning of the second quarter of this year and so far solved 15 cases, each within one working day only.

“We have launched this initiative in partnership with Dubai Courts, and it is mainly for the simple and clear cases. Earlier, cases used to take some time to be solved because once the Naturalisation and Residency Prosecution finish investigation, we would transfer the case to court which also took some time.”

He added that now, with the new initiative, simple cases won’t take too long to be solved.

“For example, if we get a new case, we at the prosecution will finish investigations, and on the same day it will be transferred to the court and the judge will give his judgment on the same day. Thus, no time is wasted for those involved in the cases.”

Chancellor Ali noted that this will only be done for simple cases. “Complicated cases will take its time in investigation and judgment to guarantee that they don’t lose their rights.”

He added that by this year-end, they will evaluate the success of this new initiative. “We will evaluate the results, and hopefully, it will be satisfactory.”

He noted that they are carrying out the new initiative with the same number of staff, and this increases work load and pressure on them. “However, our main aim is to ease the process and get work done as fast and accurate as possible.”
