1 killed every 2 days on Dubai roads in 2013

Road accidents killed 160 people and injured more than 2,800 others in Dubai in 2013 and police said they were mainly a result of speed, negligence and recklessness.

Police data showed there were 2,944 accidents that also resulted in the damage of 5,387 vehicles.

Around 197 of the injuries were classified as serious while nearly 688 were light injuries, according to traffic police acting director Colonel Saif Al Mazroui.

“Most of those accidents were caused by speed, negligence, reckless driving, sudden change of lanes and lack of concentration,” he said.
