100 traffic offenders 'air-lifted' in September

Traffic air patrols helped nab 100 traffic violators in Abu Dhabi between September 12 and 31, 2013.

The air patrols team in collaboration with Department of Air Wing at Abu Dhabi Police aims at reducing the causes of traffic accidents.

Major Mohsen Bakheet Menhali , head of traffic management, said most violations comprised over-taking from hard-shoulder and failing to maintain minimum distance between vehicles.

Air patrols are equipped adequately to photograph traffic offenders.

For instance, they easily spot vehicles without number plates and those with tampered numbers.

Air patrols also alert police about traffic snarls, thereby, ensuring police to reach the spot at the earliest and ease traffic flow.
