12 Asians hurt as bus hits palm tree

Twelve Asians workers suffered medium to major injuries when the bus they were travelling in swerved, crashing into a palm tree in Ras Al Khaimah. Colonel Ali Saeed Al Alkim, Director, Traffic and Patrols Department, RAK Police, said, police patrols and the ambulance rushed to the scene and transferred the injured to hospital for treatment no sooner than the control room received information on Wednesday morning.
 
Initial investigations reveal that the accident was caused by distracted driving.
 
Col. Alkim urged motorists to be alert while at the wheels.
