Education is key for a brighter future for the youngsters, and it’s even more vital when it comes to getting education from those institutions which ensure brighter career prospects.
The New 2015 QS University Rankings of top 100 institutions from 15 Arab countries has been released with the contribution of nearly 2,500 employers and 3,700 academics.
The list includes 13 institutions from the UAE. Two have been ranked among top 10; nine in top 50 and four have been rated among 51-100 Arab universities.
Since ratings have been awarded by employers and academics, the young degree holders graduating from these institutes would have a better chance of landing good jobs.
Around 3,720 academics and 2,489 employers have contributed views for the new ranking, which also takes into account staffing levels, the proportion of academics with a PhD, the number of research papers per faculty member and the number of citations per paper, as well as the proportions of international faculty and students, and web impact.
Almost 260 institutions were evaluated during the exercise and 194 had enough data to be ranked. Of these, 100 appear in the published ranking.
The ratings of the university are based on the following weightings: Academic Reputation 30%; Employer Reputation 20%; Faculty Student 20%; International Faculty 2.5%; International Students 2.5%; Staff with PhD 5%; Web Impact 10%; Papers per Faculty 5%; and Citations per Paper 5%.
The United Arab Emirates University and American University of Sharjah have retained their ratings of 6th and 7th consecutively for the second year among the employers and academics.
