Fourteen Asian men are on trial in Abu Dhabi on charges of murdering a Pakistani after learning that he informed the police about their involvement in liquor trade.
Witnesses told the prosecutor that they saw the defendants chasing the Pakistani in a residential area in the capital before they hit him with a stick.
The witnesses said that when the victim then fell down, the defendants started to beat him with sticks and their legs.
Police arrested the 14 on charges of illegal liquor dealing while some of them were found to be violating labour laws.
