140kg of cosmetics of unknown origin seized

Abu Dhabi Municipality has seized 140 kg of cosmetics of unknown origin, some of which have no product labels in Arabic or English.

During its crackdown in the closing nights of the holy month of Ramadan, 227 women’s beauty salons and health centres were inspected. Three salons and 18 health centers were warned.

Khalifa Al Rumaithi, Director of Public Health at the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, said: "The campaign was aimed at raising health awareness of people running beauty salons.”

Al Rumaithi continued: "The municipality made it clear that it will not hesitate to take measures against any party which is proved to have used products harmful to health. Offending beauty salons can be fined or closed down.”
