170 residency violators nabbed in Sharjah

In its latest campaign, the Sharjah Interior Ministry has nabbed 170 people for violating residency law.

They included 100 illegal street vendors; 53 people who violated the law of entry and residence of foreigners and 17 others charged with being employed illegally.

The ministry campaign was conducted in cooperation with Sharjah Police, the Municipality and the Bureau of Labour and Eonomic Department. Those arrested have been transferred to the respective departments and legal action would be initiated against them.

Brigadier Dr Abdullah Ali Saeed Bin Sahoo, Head, Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Sharjah, said the campaign must be extended to curb illegal activities in the emirate. He urged residents to inform authorities of any untoward activities they spot via the telephone service called ‘Sahem’.

Brigadier Sahoo also asked residents not to buy items from street vendors as the quality is compromised upon.
