18 killed on Dubai roads in 11 weeks

Car accidents killed 18 people in Dubai in the first 11 weeks of 2012 and police said speed was the main cause of the mishaps.

One of the victims, an Emirati, died in car crash on Sunday while his friend suffered from serious injuries, police said.

In January, six people were killed in road crashes while five died in February and seven in March, they said.

Road accidents in the emirate of two million people resulted in 33 deaths in the first three months of 2011 and 56 in the same period of 2010.
