2 die, 5 seriously hurt in Dubai accidents in 2 days

Two people died and five sustained medium-to-severe injuries in traffic accidents in the past two days in Dubai.

Major-General Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, director- general of the Directorate of Traffic, said the first accident happened on Tuesday night on Sheikh Zayed Road in which a motorcycle rider was seriously injured.

The second accident was on Al Khail Road in the direction to Abu Dhabi on Wednesday morning, in which one person died and one person was moderately injured when their vehicle hit the concrete barrier on the edge of the road.

A 16-year-old UAE national died on Wednesday evening when his bicycle collided with a light vehicle in an internal road in Al Barsha area.

In Thursday morning’s accident in Al Qusais area, two Asians were seriously injured when they were hit by a vehicle while crossing the street. They were taken to hospital by ambulance for medical treatment.

In another accident in the early hours of Thursday morning, a woman was seriously injured at the Civil Defence Centre intersection in Al Qusais when she suddenly lost control of her Suzuki car which hit a concrete barrier. She was taken to hospital for treatment.
