An 18-month-old boy and a four-year-old girl died in a car crash on Dubai-Hatta Road on Saturday night.
Their mother who was at the wheels lost control of the car due to speeding. The vehicle veered to the right, struck a 4x4 and flipped twice over. Their five-year-old sister and six-year-old brother were injured, as were the driver and two Filipina housemaids, reported '7Days'.
Salah Bu Farousha, Head of Dubai Traffic Prosecution, said: "Initial investigations reveal the children were not strapped in child seats."
The 29-year-old mother was arrested but later released on bail.
Bu Farousha said she will face prosecution. "The law must serve its cause.” The fatal smash is a stark reminder of the dangers ofspeeding and failing to safely restrain children in vehicles, he added.
