Two people were killed and 13 injured in a three-vehicle collision on Mohamed Bin Zayed Road on Saturday.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, a top official from Dubai Police said that the accident took place at around 6.20am on Saturday.

"Dubai Police and Ambulance rushed to the site. One person died on spot and another on his way to hospital," the official said.

He added that the accident resulted in eight minor injuries and five medium injuries.

The collision occurred between two trucks and a bus after Al Houdh Roundabout, towards Sharjah, said Colonel Dr. Adel Al Suwaidi, Director, Jebel Ali Police Station.

The water tanker rammed into truck, which in turn swerved and crashed into a concrete barrier. Under the impact of the collision, the water tank separated from the truck body and collided with the bus carrying workers. There were 65 workers on board the bus.

Four people were trapped in the bus and Dubai Police Search and Rescue teams were able to free them.
