287 back-to-school traffic accidents reported

The Operations Room of the General Directorate of Central Operation at Abu Dhabi Police handled 287 traffic accident reports between 8am and 2pm on Sunday, August 31.

The reported accidents, mostly of minor severity, coincided with the beginning of the school year.

Lt. Colonel Nasser Suleiman Al Maskari, Head of the Operations Department at the General Directorate of Central Operation in the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, pointed out that the operation staff were well prepared and ready to receive any reports and calls. He noted that they strive to provide the best services to parents and the public alike, and respond immediately to accident reports by coordinating with the concerned authorities – this is done at the beginning of the school year, and throughout the entire year.

Lt. Colonel Al Maskari said that the Operations Room has qualified employees who use the most advanced equipment that aids in the best performance of their duties.  He called upon the public, especially drivers, to adhere to traffic rules and regulations.

“Once the Operations Room receives a report, it then determines which response team is appropriate for the accident, identifies the closest units to the site, and instructs them to respond immediately and move to the site in record time. Hasty actions are essential in reducing the response time,” Lt. Colonel Al Maskari said.  “The Operations Room additionally monitors the courses of events that involve several places and areas, and especially focuses on any congestion that is near schools,” he said.
