Three Emirati wives have filed court cases seeking divorce from their husbands, saying they can not stand them any more because of their failure to meet their commitments towards them, a newspaper reported on Saturday.

The three filed for divorce at the Family Guidance and Rehabilitation Centre in Ras Al Khaimah, which referred the cases to the personal affairs court after failing to find an out-of-court settlement. One wife said she wanted to split from her husband after he failed to keep his promise and let her pursue studies to obtain a masters degree in medicine.“He made the promise in the marriage contract but he back off his promise…I have waited for years so he will change his mind but he did not,” she said.

The other wife said she decided to seek divorce after learning her husband had married another woman without telling her.She said she was asked by her husband to evict the house and live with his mother with her three children so he can have privacy with the new wife.“The centre tried to find a solution but the wife insisted on divorce on the grounds her husband is also cruel and has become unbearable….she also demanded that the husband must provide a separate house and pay monthly alimony to her and the children,” 'Emarat Al Youm' daily said.

The other woman also insisted on divorce from her “unbearable and irresponsible” husband, saying he no longer supported her.“She said she was paying rent and most of the house needs…she also said he recently started to beat her up before throwing her out of the house…the woman stressed that she can no longer stand the situation and insisted on divorce.”

Woman raped in desert by five men

Five men snatched an African woman from a public place and sped to a desert area, where they took turns in raping her before driving her back home.

The woman was walking back home in Riyadh when the five stopped their car near her and forced her inside.

“They took her to the desert and raped her…when they finished, they drove her back home and fled,” Alsaudi newspaper said, adding that police mounted a manhunt for the five after getting their descriptions from the woman.

'Seductive' smile lands many teens in jail, hospital…

Teen age boys stalking girls at a busy shopping mall in Kuwait punched and kicked each other in a mass fight triggered by a “seductive” smile by a pretty Asian girl, a newspaper reported on Saturday.

When the “indecently dressed” girl smiled at them, they vied and shoved each other as they tried to get closer to her, triggering a scuffle.

“Police rushed to the scene and stopped the fight that involved many boys…some of them were taken to the police station while others who were injured were transferred to hospital,” Alwatan said.

Two thieves nabbed after sneaking into Dubai house

Dubai police seized two men from another Gulf country just after they sneaked into a house and tried to burgle it before they were scared off by its Indian owner.

The Indian man was jolted out of bed after hearing muted noise in the other room. When they saw him, they fled out but he phoned the police.

A police force quickly surrounded the neighborhood in Al Qooz area and began a search before spotting two men with the same descriptions.

“After interrogation, they confessed to entering that house and trying to steal it…the quick reporting and the instant response by the police allowed us to catch the thieves,” said Colonel Mohammed Abdul Razzak, deputy director of the Dubai detectives department.

Victim pardon saves killer from execution

A killer who had been sentenced to death was saved after the relatives of his victim pardon him without stipulating payment of blood money.

The man had been sentenced to death for premeditated murder in Abu Dhabi during a knife fight that also resulted in the injury of another one.

The Federal Supreme Court had upheld earlier death sentences by two courts before it dropped the capital punishments when the relatives of the victim sent a letter to court announcing they had pardoned the defendant without demanding diya (blood money), newspapers said without identifying the killer and the victim.
