Thirty Asian workers were injured in a bus-truck collision on Qadra Road in Ras Al Khaimah on Monday, reported Al Bayan.

Colonel Ali Al Alkim, Director, Traffic and Patrol Department, Ras Al Khaimah Police, said no sooner than operations room received information about the accident between the bus carrying workers and a truck late Monday evening, than police air wings of Dubai and RAK landed at the scene, along with civil defence, ambulances and rescue patrols.

The injured were transferred to three hospitals – five were taken to Saqr Hospital of Ras Al Khaimah; 10 men to Al Dhaid Hospital in Sharjah and others to Fujairah Hospital.

Initial investigations reveal the truck entered the main road from a side road without checking if the road was clear, leading to the accident.

The bus had overturned under the impact of the collision.

The workers were returning to their accommodation

Maj. Gen. Ali Alwam, Commander-in-Chief of RAK Police, commended the co-operation between the different authorities, including that of Dubai Police, for their quick response and efficient action.
