341 teens held for driving without licences
Three hundred and forty one teenagers were arrested driving vehicles without licenses during the first half of this year in Al Ain.
According to a report in Arabic daily Al Ittihad, Major Mohsen Saeed Al Mansouri, acting head of Al Ain traffic police, Department of Traffic and Patrols Abu Dhabi Police, said, “Driving without a license is a serious matter cannot be tolerated and compromised”.
He pointed out that the last two months have witnessed several serious fatal, including one in Al Wathba where a 17-year old Emarati was driving her father’s car when she met with a fatal accident that also killed two of her sisters accompanying her.
He also added that racing cars was killing teens, citing an incident where a 17-year old Emarati teenager was racing with his two friends when he crashed and died.
The ICU section of Tawam Hospital received 1,100 cases so far, of which 40 per cent were as a result of car accidents.
The number of deaths as a result of traffic accidents in Al Ain and its suburbs in the first half of this year was 45, including 7 between the ages of 2 and 17.
