The Humanitarian Aid Committee of the Central Prison in Dubai gave hope to 345 prisoners by booking air tickets to return to their countries after completing their sentences.
Dr Adel Abdul Aziz Al Suwaidi, Director of the Department of Education and Training of inmates of Al Aweer prison confirmed, “554 inmates benefited services and the amounts allocated amounted to Dh1,574,000.”
He added: “One million dirhams is for the payment of blood money (diya) for two inmates, and 111,000 dirhams for the settlement of financial problems of seven prisoners. In addition, Dh82,000 as financial assistance for families of 22 inmates.”
The total financial aid since 2003 till now has reached Dh20 million, which usually comes in as donations from philanthropists and charities operating in the country.
