Sharjah Police fined 390 pedestrians found violating traffic rules and crossing roads illegally in just one week.

Lieutenant Colonel Imran bin Ellan, Director of Investigation and Traffic Control said that several awareness campaigns were launched to educate people about road safety in order to reduce the number of accidents and fatalities on roads.

These campaigns are organised in several languages such as Arabic, Urdu and English.

Pedestrians who violated the traffic rules and crossed the roads from non-designated areas were fined Dh200 according to the article 147 of the Traffic Safety Federal Law.

Imran bin Ellan urged the people to follow rules and safety guidelines to avoid being run over by vehicles while crossing the streets.

He also called on motorists to drive safely and slow down near the pedestrian crossings in order to allow those on foot to cross the road safely.
