3rd Pan IIM Alumni Summit to be held tomorrow in Dubai
The 2012 Pan IIM Alumni Gulf Summit on Global Organisations from Emerging Markets brings a power line-up of speakers including KV Kamath, the Chairman of ICICI, India’s largest private bank and of Infosys, the global technology services company, Arif Naqvi, Founder & Group CEO of Abraaj Capital, one of the largest private equity groups in the world, Boutros M. Boutros, Divisional Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications at Emirates Airline & Group, and Anjali Raina, Executive Director of Harvard Business School India Research Centre.
As companies from countries like India and the UAE grow into global prominence, the summit seeks to discuss ideas around opportunities and challenges faced by business leaders and managers in emerging economies, as they take their organisations into the international arena.
Kamath, who is an IIM alumnus and Chairman of two successful Indian organisations with global footprints – ICICI Bank and Infosys says: “In recent years competitive challenges and investment risks have been dramatically transformed, while new opportunities have arisen for those who are alert to them. Economic prosperity at home has given cash and confidence to Indian (emerging market) companies and many have been quick to make significant investments outside their shores. However, building a successful global brand and organisation requires a lot more than deep pockets –strong leadership, entrepreneurial managers, consistent strategy, the ability to build trust and ability to manage multi-cultural environments.”
Organised by the UAE-based Alumni of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM), the 3rd Pan IIM Alumni Gulf Summit is being held on March 17 2012 in Dubai at the Address Dubai Marina. The Summit is sponsored by Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) for the third consecutive time.
The 300+ participants, who will include IIM alumni, leaders from prominent local businesses, corporate organisations, and entrepreneurs, can look forward to a thought provoking afternoon as speakers address the topic from different perspectives and spotlight case studies from both markets.
Arup Mukhopadhyay, Executive Vice President, Head - Consumer Banking, ADCB: “We have supported the Pan IIM Alumni Gulf Summit since its inception in 2009 and are delighted to be associated with such a prestigious event. The high quality of speakers and discussions resonate with our own brand values of ambition and excellence. The topic this year promises to be particularly interesting as it delves into the DNA of a globally successful organisation, from an emerging market base such as ours.”
“Besides being a forum for social and professional interaction among the IIM alumni, the Network is committed to promoting contemporary management thinking and practice, through its conferences and seminars” added Rashmi Malik, President of the Pan IIM Alumni Network. “We have a rich pool of talent and experience in the 400+ alumni across the Gulf, for whom we hope to provide a platform and catalyst, enabling contributions to management innovation and thought leadership in the region.”
