The grace period of the 50 per cent cut on traffic fines in Ras Al Khaimah has been extended by two weeks.

Under directives of Major-General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief, Ras Al Khaimah Police, the deadline – which ended on December 1 - has been extended until December 17, 2015, said Brigadier Ghanem Ahmed Ghanem, Director-General, Central Operations, RAK Police.

The reduction in fines depend on the period taken to be paid. If the speed fine is paid within 50 days, the cut will be 50 per cent; from 51 to 80 days, the cut will be 30 per cent; from 81 days and later, there will be no discount on speed fines, Ghanem explained.

Motorists can choose to make the payment through any traffic department across the country; or through the Ministry of Interior (UAE MOI) seven days a week, even during the official holidays, he added.

Ghanem said that the reduction in fines was recognised in the federal traffic system of the UAE.
