7-a-day held for doing more than 200kmph

Abu Dhabi Police seize 233 motorists who were driving vehicles at dangerous speeds (exceeding 200kmph) in October.

An 'Al Khaleej' report says, however, the number of speeding violations decreased compared to October 2010, when 307 drivers were held for over-speeding. This is a two per cent drop.

Between January and October speeding caused 28 in Abu Dhabi killing seven people and injuring six.

Speeding drivers will be fined Dh2,000 and 12 black points apart from their vehicles being impounded, he adds.
