73-year-old man attempts suicide

A 73-year-old Asian man used a knife to slit his throat in a suicide attempt in Ras Al Khaimah but was saved, a newspaper reported on Monday.

Police and civil defence rushed to the man’s house in the Red Island in the northern emirate and found him bleeding from the neck.

They gave him first aid on the spot before rushing him to hospital. Police told the Arabic language daily Alkhaleej the man suffered from medium injuries in the neck but was saved, adding that they are investigating his motives.
