75 new surveillance cameras in Sharjah

Surveillance cameras equipped with latest technologies have been installed in 75 locations across Sharjah, reported ‘Al Khaleej’ Arabic daily.

Sharjah Police General Directorate in a statement announced that in the first stage of the project called ‘Sharjah is a Safe City’, all areas of the city would be equipped with surveillance cameras.

This will include important tourist sites such as Al Mamzar, Al Buhairah and Al Khan, too.

The cameras will help police work more efficiently and monitor traffic apart from enhancing safety and security of residents.

The directorate added that work is in progress to install 16 electronic gates at Sharjah International Airport, as part of the ‘Emirates Gate’ project  - which aims to simplify travel procedures.
