There is a significant decrease in the number of drowning cases in Sharjah, according to the latest statistics by Sharjah Police.

In the first eight months of this year, only eight drowning cases were reported compared to 16 cases during the same period last year.

Awareness campaigns by the General Directorate, Ambulance and Rescue Department, Sharjah Police, has helped reduce such fatal cases.

The department has been constantly reminding the public about beach safety and when and where to go swimming and how to go about it.

Police urge residents to read the warnings and guidelines hoisted at the beaches before venturing into the waters.
