Eight Arabs - five women and three children - were injured when the elevator of their building in Al Nakheel area of Ras Al Khaimah collapsed on the third floor on Sunday.
According to the ‘Al Bayan’ report, ambulances immediately arrived and rushed the injured to Saqr Hospital.
The cord gave away soon after it passed the second floor, causing the elevator to collapse, thereby, resulting in moderate injuries to the eight people in the lift.
Civil Defence has handed over the file to relevant authorities to investigate into the matter.
Investigations will also be conducted to check if the 22-floor building was regularly maintained.
