8th Scientific Research Forum opens in Sharjah

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and President of University of Sharjah (UoS) inaugurated here today The 8th Scientific Research Forum under the theme: "Scientific Research Opportunities to Better Feedbacks".

The annual event is organised by the College of Graduate Studies and Research at the UoS.

At the arrival, the Ruler of Sharjah was received by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, Director General of the Sharjah Statistics Centre, Mohammed Jumaa Al Hindi, Chairman of the Sharjah Consultative Council, Abdul Rahman bin Ali Al Jarwan, Adviser at the Emiri Court and other senior officials.

Dr Samy Mahmoud, Chancellor of the UoS delivered a welcome speech in which he thanked Sheikh Sultan. "The Ruler of Sharjah does not spare any effort to support the activities of the UoS, which has become one of the best universities at local, regional and Arab levels." He added that the scientific research at the UoS will remain one of the top priorities outlined by Sheikh Sultan since the inception of UoS, announcing that the UoS has plans to further develop the scientific research through provision of good research environment.

Dr Mahmoud said the UoS provides 14 academic postgraduate programmes in different fields.

Flanked by Chancellor of the UoS, Sheikh Sultan honoured the winners of the research awards. Then he opened the exhibition on the sidelines of The 8th Scientific Research Forum. The Ruler of Sharjah toured the exhibition, where he was briefed about the scientific researches and those which won the awards. He appreciated the students' scientific achievements and creativity.

Chancellor of the UoS presented a memento gift to the Ruler of Sharjah, which is a number of UoS publications in 2012.
