The longstanding association between Absolut and contemporary art, dating back to Andy Warhol in 1985, will be showcased in Dubai when the Asia tour of the 'Absolut Art Collection' exhibits in Dubai during March 3-6, 2011.

Leading up to the opening initial private viewings to be held at night in the Absolut gallery lounge including live music, before the show opens to the public between March 3 to March 6.

In the tradition of the company's 30 years of creative collaborations, Absolut will show 20 pieces of original artwork from the Absolut Art Collection, which since 2008 has been owned and curated by the Historical Museum of Wine and Spirits in Stockholm, Sweden.

The Exhibition, a celebration of art, creativity and popular culture includes works by Andy Warhol, Francesco Clemente, Louise Bourgeois, Rosemarie Trockel, Béatrice Cussol and Jan Saudek, to name a few.

"The Absolut Art Collection comprises over 800 pieces of work, and it is a privilege to have the opportunity to send some of the most renowned pieces to Dubai for the first time. On display at Carbon 12 in Dubai will be a range of artists known for their work in the pop art, trans-avant-garde and modern spheres. The selection spans a variety of media such as canvas, plexiglas and tin, to photography and paper. It is an inspiring collection," said Anna Malmhake, Vice President Global Marketing at The Absolut Company.

In this tradition, Absolut Bourgeois, the 2003 art piece by Louise Bourgeois of spider legs infused on a bottle of Absolut will be shown as part of the Absolut Art Collection tour. Bourgeois' work can be seen in major collections in the best museums throughout the world and her Absolut piece formed part of the Absolut Generations campaign. A renowned French-American artist and sculptor, Bourgeois' pulled inspiration from her childhood which became a dominant theme of her work.

"Our first art inspired campaign, Absolut Warhol, was immediately recognised as a classic advertisement. Since then we have had a long-standing and fruitful relationship with the creative world, and this exhibition allows us to showcase an important part of our heritage and also support the local art-world and seek inspiration for future campaigns," added Malmhake.

"With artworks by the likes of Andy Warhol, Louise Bourgeois and Francesco Clemente on show, the appeal of this Dubai exhibition is being able to view the 'Absolut Art Collection' in an eclectic lounge environment," commented Alexandra Bohl, Project Manager Global Marketing The Absolut Company.

In celebration of the Absolut Art Collection exhibition in Dubai, Absolut Art is also organising a competition for artists and creative professionals based on the original advertising brief given to Andy Warhol in 1985.
