Residents of Abu Dhabi can again let their colours fly as Yas Island welcomes the return of its popular National Day Colours celebration on 2nd December.

Organisers have a wide range of family activities lined up at Yas Marina Circuit for people to enjoy as the nation comes together to celebrate the 45th UAE National Day.

Following on from last year’s successful event, thousands of people from the expanding community on and around Yas Island are expected to return on 2ndDecember to enjoy the free entertainment, which aims to complement other main National Day ceremonies across the UAE capital.

Al Tareq Al Ameri, CEO of Yas Marina Circuit, said: “The National Day Colours celebration is a hugely popular family event that has fast become an extension of the festivities around UAE National Day.

“Everyone at Yas Marina Circuit looks forward to hosting such a colourful and relaxed family event that celebrates the rich culture and heritage of the UAE with a range of entertainment and activities.”

Set on Yas Marina Circuit’s iconic Abu Dhabi Hill, the National Day Colours event welcomes all visitors. Guests of all ages can enjoy a celebration of UAE culture and a fun day packed with entertainment between 2-7pm.

Showcasing the heart and soul of the UAE, cultural activities at the event include oud playing performances, falconry displays, and dancing. Visitors can also sample the tradition of henna hand painting and have their names written in Arabic by a professional calligrapher.

Why not try your luck at the Human Claw game, or enjoy the live musical performances, inflatable amusement rides or get your National Day Colours experience captured by a professional caricaturist?

UAE-themed face painting, an arts and crafts section, as well as Story Time with Dr Ahmed are ideal for children. An impressive fireworks display will add a touch of drama to what promises to be a spectacular occasion.

Visitors are encouraged to share moments from the day on Instagram and Twitter with the hashtag #LetYourColoursFly.

“UAE National Day is a time for communities to come together and celebrate with pride and enthusiasm 45 years of extraordinary achievements,” said Mohamed Abdulla Al Zaabi, CEO of Miral. “As an Emirati-bred, international entertainment and leisure destination that attracts visitors from across the world through exciting attractions, vibrant events and warm hospitality, Yas Island represents the very best of what is possible in the UAE. In addition to welcoming visitors, their friends and families year-round, we are especially honoured to welcome citizens and residents for our 45th National Day Celebrations at Yas Marina Circuit as well as across Yas Island as they create everlasting memories on this special day.”

The festivities come just five days after Yas Marina Circuit hosts the title-deciding 2016 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to round off the F1 season in style and is set against a back drop of GP2 and GP3 testing. Visitors can see the F1® drivers of tomorrow set the pace in a private testing session. Entry is free for all.
