Abu Dhabi food body clears McDonald’s nuggets
The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority has clarified that McDonald’s nuggets being sold in the emirate do not contain any chemicals, petroleum or siliceous substances.
The ADFCA was reacting to reports that recently appeared in sections of the Arab and foreign media that certain banned substances were being used in McDonald’s nuggets.
ADFCA clarified that the substances in question - di-methyl polysiloxane, an anti-foaming agent in vegetable oil and conforms to the standard specifications of UAE.
Meanwhile, ADFCA said it is dealing with any rumors related to foodstuff in very seriously, and a statement from ADFCA added, “Especially when it comes to foods and children's products because of the importance of this segment of society and the need to provide them the most levels of food safety.”
