Abu Dhabi restaurant shut down for 'safety'

The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has ordered closure of a restaurant in the capital city for not meeting with the food safety standards and requirements.

Al Alamin Restaurant and Refreshments was operating its business in Hamdan Bin Mohammed Street.

ADFCA stated that the restaurant violated the Food Law No 2 of 2008.

"During inspections our officials noticed a number of violations in the facility pertaining to health and safety," said Thamer Al Qasimi, Acting Director of Communication & Community Service Division of ADFCA.

"They found some kind of food had been cooked inside the staff accommodation under unsafe environment."

Thamer said the facility will remain barred from operation until the owner’s implement the corrective actions set forth.

He added that ADFCA has increased its inspection drives on all kinds of registered eateries in order to ensure a safe summer and fasting season.

He urged all businesses to strictly abide by ADFCA’s rules and regulations with regards to the quality and safety of food products in order to maintain the high food safety Abu Dhabi enjoys.
