Abu Dhabi taxis to have CCTV cameras

Abu Dhabi taxis will soon have CCTV security cameras, said the Centre for Regulation of Transport by Hire Cars, reported ‘Emarat Al Youm’.

The announcement on Saturday is in line with the Centre’s commitment to enhance security and safety standards.

In the initial phase, the cameras will be installed in 100 taxis.

The second phase will be initiated within a year of the start of the rollout phase. And that will see the installation of security cameras across the entire taxi fleet.

With this new drive, the Centre aims to monitor taxi journeys to ensure the safety of both the driver and the passenger, the report added.
