Abu Dhabi needs to set up specialized courts that will try policemen who misbehave in their dealing with members of the community, according to a study published in local newspapers on Sunday.
The study, titled “Police Courts,” said they should include police prosecutors and judges who are specialized in the trail of policemen as part of a “future vision for the development of police forces and related courts.”
The 120-page study, authored by Brigadier Mohammed Al Shihi, Director of the legal affairs division at the Abu Dhabi Police Department, covered details of such courts, including their functions and penalties against police offenders.
“These courts are needed since police have to deal with people on a daily basis…they are supposed to maintain discipline, protect lives and property, prevent crime and ensure security for all residents,” it said.
