Adec announces dates for Grade 12 exams

The Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) has announced that Abu Dhabi schools are ready for the end of the 2015-2016 year examinations. As many as 64,875 students will sit for their exams, out of whom 14,733 students will sit for Grade 12 Ministry of Education, MoE, curriculum examinations.

Grade 12 examinations are scheduled to start on Sunday 29th May and end on Tuesday 7th June for the science stream and 9th June for the literature stream. Postponements and re-sitting for examinations starts on 21st June and ends on 27th June. Results will be announced on the 30th June, 2016, according to Adec.

During a meeting with Cycle 3 school principals, Mohammed Salem Al-Dhaheri, Adec’s Executive Director of School Operations, said that Adec has taken all the necessary measures to provide students with a suitable setting to reflect on their examination performance.

Al-Dhaheri added that the school’s administration plays a significant role in organising end of year examinations, ensuring optimal use of school facilities to receive Grade 12 students during examinations, and schedule invigilating teachers in a way that does not affect other grades. He pointed out that Grade 1 to Grade 11 students will continue to attend classes until the end of the school year on 23rd June.

"Adec is keen to provide all special needs students with individual needs and requirements, including students from across MoE private schools, adult education centers and home schools," he added.

During the meeting, a number of issues were reviewed to include the formation of taskforces and specifying their mandates as well as the lists of examinations invigilators, venues, Grade 12 examination control, and the monitoring committee to oversee examination papers’ processing and delivery.

Examination venue preparations was also reviewed, including the availability of proper air conditioning, lighting, the number of students in each hall, ensuring that walls are free from any subject-related materials, and provision of a sufficient number of invigilators. In addition, do’s and don’ts, maintaining confidentiality of examination papers and compliance with applicable exam regulations were specified.

With regard to receipt and delivery of examination papers, a committee will be formed to receive papers from the printing press, verify the receipt of exam booklets, accuracy of data, number of envelops, subject materials and date of the examination.
