The Abu Dhabi City Municipality, ADM, in cooperation with the Integrated Transport Centre, Mawaqif, and Al Sahraa Transport, carried out an inspection campaign targeting abandoned vehicles on Abu Dhabi Island.

The campaign, which covered Abu Dhabi Corniche and Hamdan Street, stems from the commitment of the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport, Abu Dhabi City Municipality, along with Mawaqif to protect the city landscape from all types of disfigured elements, nurture a safe and healthy environment for all community members, and ease traffic flow.

During the campaign, ADM and Mawaqif cautioned people against leaving vehicles unattended for extended periods and distorting the city’s look.

The campaign resulted in impounding of five vehicles, serving of five warnings, and issuing of five violations against abandoned vehicles.

The municipality is combating the phenomenon of leaving vehicles in parking spaces, public squares and facilities under Law No. 02 of 2012 for maintaining the general appearance, health, and public tranquillity in the Abu Dhabi emirate, and the executive regulation, which stipulates a fine of AED 3,000 against offenders.

The ADM highlighted to all community members and strategic partners the importance of maintaining the general look of streets and public facilities by taking care of their vehicles and not leaving them unattended. Such practices distort the general scenery, pose gross environmental hazards, disrupt traffic, and undermine the safety of the community.
