Residents have enthusiastically welcomed the denial of media reports by Adnoc that petrol prices are set to go up for the third time in September

Local media reports had said that different types of petrol, including Special, E-plus and diesel, will be affected by the increase, which was to take place after the Eid holiday.

On Tuesday, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) refuted these reports, much to the relief of residents.

“We are all a relieved lot,” said Sunil Kumar, a resident of Dubai. “We were all bracing for the third [petrol price] hike this year… and this announcement came as welcome surprise,” he said.

Mohammed Salem, said: "I am overjoyed. This is the best news I have heard all day. I was fearing another increase. Now, things are clearer. However, I hope that Emarat, Eppco and Enoc also do not raise prices as there are no Adnoc petrol stations here in Dubai."

Adnoc, in a statement, said this the reports are completely false and that it is essential to investigate the accuracy of information and take the news from the correct source before publishing them.
