A Filipina accused of adultery and having an illegitimate child has asked the court to let her marry her Emirati partner.
The Dubai Misdemeanour Court presided by Judge Ibrahim Khalil Abu Shamma heard the case of a jobless Emirati JAA, 23, and a Filipina saleslady MPB, 22, involved in an illegitimate relationship and who had a one-and-a-half year old child.
The two have admitted to having an extramarital relationship and the woman has asked the court to let her marry the Emirati man.
The woman was arrested from her accommodation in Al Satwa area following a tip-off to the authorities.
When asked about her son, she told the police that he was the result of an illicit relationship with an Emirati.
She was referred to Dubai Public Prosecution on the charges of illegitimate pregnancy, adultery and overstaying in the country.
As per the prosecution’s charge sheet, the woman used to have sex with the Emirati man at his family home in Al Barsha and the last incident was on March 28.
The man’s lawyer asked the court to grant time to prepare his defence.
The case has been adjourned until August 22.
When approached by Emirates 24|7 for comment, the man and his family, who were standing together with the woman outside the court, refused to comment whether they will be allowed to marry and what will happen to the baby
