Air India Express UAE flights: One loses luggage, other loses its way

Passengers of an Air India Express flight from Dubai to Pune were forced to go shopping for essentials after almost 50 of them did not receive their baggage upon arriving in India.

The incident occurred on Sunday when the IX212 flight landed in Pune. Many of the passengers found their checked baggage missing, despite waiting for the same at the luggage carousals for hours.

An Airline official is reported to have said that the incident was a result of excess baggage and the passengers managed to receive their luggage in the next available flight.

With schools closed for holidays, most families from the Gulf are returning to India. Almost all flights are full and ticket prices have peaked. “To some sectors, return fares have crossed Dh2,500,” says Manish PK, who is travelling to Chennai this weekend.

Meanwhile, an Air India Express flight from Abu Dhabi to Kozhikode was diverted to Kochi early morning today due to adverse weather conditions.

The flight was originally scheduled to land at 4.45am at Kozhikode but managed to do so at the wrong airport only an hour later.

Passengers, however, were asked not to disembark from the aircraft and were flown to Kozhikode another hour later. “The airline informed us that the flight could not land due to adverse weather. We finally managed to reach Kozhikode at about 7.40am,” one of the passengers said.
