An airhostess was kidnapped and allegedly molested by a man who posed as an RTA staff, Dubai Criminal Court heard.

In the wee hours of on November 2, 2015, at about 3.30am the Chinese cabin crew, AL, was driving from her home in Al Mamzar area to Abu Hail – the pick-up point where the airline staff assemble to start their work at 4am.

“All employees gather at this point and then go by company transport to the airport. Before reaching the location, I stopped at a nearby parking lot to answer a call from my friend. A car stopped next to me and the driver pulled down the glass, showed a card and claimed that he was from the RTA. He asked for my driving licence,” AL testified in court.

“I could not see the details on his card. However, the documents of my car. He did not accept that and insisted that I show him my driving licence. I told him that it is in the house,” the airhostess said.

The suspect asked the woman to get off her car and accompany him in his car to her house to fetch the licence.

“He did not force me to do that but he insisted that he needed to see my driving licence. I drove in his car and sat in the front passenger seat,” she said and added, “I trusted him being a government employee who offered to drive me home to get the licence.”

However, instead of taking her home, he drove around the area. On asking him why he was not driving her home, he answered that he can issue her Dh2,000 fine instead, she said

The airhostess told him that she did not have that amount on her and that she is can show him her licence.

“Then he said that he wants me for two minutes and began touching me inappropriately,” AL said.

The airhostess claimed that she pretended to be willing but requested him to excuse her that day. So he asked her for her mobile number, which she gave him and asked him to drop her back to her car.

About 10 minutes later, she was dropped back on the condition that he would call her later.

“I proceeded to the assembly point and informed my office about what happened. I was asked to lodge a complaint with the police.”

AL gave the car number to police. And the 47-year-old Emirati suspect, AR, was arrested.

The suspect is with the military and used his card to mislead the victim. He is also accused of molesting the woman.

The court is adjourned to March 16.
