AJA to be presented at Arab Media Forum

The winning entries in different categories for the Arab Journalism Award have been approved by the board, reported ‘Al Bayan’ daily.

The award in its 15th edition is part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation.

The meeting of the board was attended by Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Secretary-General; Dhia’a Rashwan, Deputy Chairman; Mona Bu Samra, Director, and senior journalists from the Arab World.

The board reviewed reports presented by jury members who had met on Sunday and Tuesday last week and checked the merits of the work in each category. The board chose the Media Personality of the Year.

Mona Al Marri expressed sincere appreciation to board members time for their time and effort towards developing the award. She said she was proud to see that the participation has increased to 5,000 entries for this edition.

The new logo for the award symbolises the adoption of new ways of thinking and creative process, she said and threw light on the category ‘Smart Journalism’. Al Marri said that a committee formed to review this category has given positive feedback and this award would prove a catalyst for the development of Arab press and Arab communities.

Al Marri said the board would reveal the names of the top three winners from each category in April.

The winners will be honoured at the Arab Media Forum, which will be held on May 10 and 11 in Dubai.

Meanwhile, Dhia’a Rashwan added that the meeting was held to review the decisions of the jury to choose winning works of this edition.
