American jumps to death from 10th floor in Marina area

An American woman under psychological pressure following her divorce committed a suicide by throwing herself from the 10th floor in Dubai.

Police ruled out criminal act and said it was the woman’s second suicide attempt.

The 30-yearold woman died on impact when she hit the ground after jumping from her hotel room in Marina area.

Police said they had managed to prevent the woman of Arab origin from killing herself in the first suicide attempt, adding that they had visited her many times to persuade her not to repeat that attempt.

“We had received messages from the woman saying she would try again to kill herself…she said she was under psychological pressure and was taking tranquilizers following her divorce,” said Colonel Mohammed Al Razooki, deputy director of the investigation and police stations department.

He said the woman committed a suicide on August 25 and that police found a text in her mobile phone sent to her ex-husband asking him to return to her.
