Dubai’s law enforcers seized flags and other products which harm the image of the UAE during random visits to the market as part of a crackdown on dealer violations, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

Inspectors from the Department of Economic Development (DED) seized the items at several shops while they were on routine visits to check compliance by the market with local laws, Emarat Al Youm said, quoting Mohammed Lootah, Executive Director of Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Division at DED.

He said a video circulated recently on local social networks was for one DED inspectors while confiscating such items, adding that the film was needed for a DED meeting.

He said the items included flags, slogans, car covers and other stuff, adding that they were all confiscated because they were harmful to the UAE image.

“We urge the public not to re-produce or  re-publish any films on social networks that could hurt the image of the UAE. We call on all to inform the consumer protection division at DED in case they see such items,” he said.
