Even as Apple has not yet announced the date when its iPhone 6s will be officially made available in the UAE, the device along with other smartphones is expected to be among the hottest selling gadgets at the upcoming Gitex Shopper next month.
Big name brands and retailers returning to Gitex Shopper will include E-City, Emax, Jacky’s Electronics, Jumbo Electronics, Plug Ins Electronix, Samsung Gulf Electronics and Sharaf DG.
Gitex Shopper this year promises not just cutting-edge gadgets at bargain prices, but also a host of giveaways as the region’s largest consumer IT and electronics show celebrates its silver jubilee this year.
Taking place in Dubai from October 3-10, 2015, organisers of show say they are planning the Middle East’s biggest ever prize extravaganza with more than Dh3 million worth of prizes up for grabs during eight days of the show.
“This year, it is impossible not to be a winner at Gitex Shopper,” quips Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice-President, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
Organisers add that the biggest names in consumer technology have confirmed their presence for the 25th edition of Gitex Shopper, which they maintain is set to be the best ever in the show’s history.
There will be more than 35,000 products on show, with visitors being lured by not just bargain prices, but also by several promotions, competitions, giveaways and raffles being run throughout the duration of the show.
“This is a not-to-be-missed event for both local and regional technology enthusiasts and smart shoppers alike,” said LohMirmand.
What visitors stand to win
All visitors stand the chance of winning a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series 2-in-1 laptop, while one lucky shopper will leave the show behind the wheel of the grand prize – a brand new Mitsubishi Pajero.
In addition, a Samsung ‘Scratch and Win’ raffle gives visitors the chance to take home a wide range of the South Korean firm’s products including the Galaxy A8 smartphone, 40 inch HD TVs, washing machines, microwave ovens, vacuum cleaners, printers and monitors.
Inside the show, visitors will have the opportunity to celebrate Gitex Shopper’s 25th anniversary by winning a Samsung Galaxy A5 smartphone every 25 minutes past the hour each day.
Visitors spending Dh500 or more will have the opportunity to win half a kilogram of gold every day. To participate in the daily raffle, shoppers will need to upload their invoices on the ‘Sweet’ app (iOS and Android).
Visitors spending Dh2,500 or more at the show will have the opportunity to win one of three product packages worth Dh15,000 – a business travel kit, a photography kit and a home entertainment kit.
Visitors spending Dh5,000 or more will have the opportunity to win a special 25th anniversary 25gm solid gold coin or one of five ultimate travel packages to the destination of their choice - each package worth Dh45,000.
Tickets for the show are priced at Dh30 per person with free entry for children below the age of five.
