Appointment system at Dubai Hospital
Dubai Hospital, run by the Dubai Health Authority, DHA, is to introduce an advanced appointment scheduling system so that chronic care patients are provided with same-day appointments across multiple specialties, according to a top health official.
Dr. Abdulrehman Al Jassmi, CEO of Dubai Hospital, said during the monthly ‘Leaders at Your Service’ initiative, that the aim of the move is to provide patients with convenience and ensure regular follow-ups with a multidisciplinary team of specialists.
Al Jassmi, said, "Dubai Hospital has several specialised clinics. The move will help patients with chronic diseases because they can schedule their appointments with specialists on the same day. For example, a patient with cardiac and renal problems can meet with a cardiologist and a nephrologist on the same day. However, sometimes same-day scheduling may not be possible because of the different time frames of treatment or unavailability of slot on the same day."
Al Jassmi added that in general, patients should ensure they reach the clinic at least ten minutes prior to the appointment time and that they should recheck the date and time of their follow-up visit before they leave the hospital to avoid rescheduling their appointment later on. He also added that patients should regularly update their details including their contact numbers so that the hospital staff can get in touch with them if required.
During the two-hour ‘Leaders at Your Service’ initiative, Al Jassmi addressed several queries and listened to feedback and suggestions.
One of the callers praised the service of the staff members at the hospital, saying that she is a young patient who needs dialysis and the staff at the hospital provide her with excellent service as well as make her feel safe and comfortable.
Shaikha Al Rahoomi, Director of Customer Relations Department at the DHA said the Leaders at Your Service initiative, which is taking place for the 15th consecutive month, has received excellent feedback. "It has been very successful so far with customers appreciating the opportunity to directly communicate with health leaders and give their suggestions, feedback or complaints."
Calls received during the two hour live session via the DHA’s help line number, 800 342, are recorded and promptly followed-up. In addition to this, the DHA has several platforms for customers to communicate with the authority.
