Arab man drowns off Sharjah beach

A 27-year-old Syrian man died after drowning while swimming at a beach in Sharjah on Saturday, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

The man was in the water in Al Khan area when he suddenly disappeared, prompting beach visitors to call the police.

Police divers plucked the man out and rushed him to hospital but he was already dead, according to the semi-official daily 'Al Ittihad'.
