Asian couple burnt to death in Dubai

Criminal intent is suspected behind a fire which broke out in a flat in the Al Baraha area of Dubai, that led to the death of an Asian man and woman, ‘Emarat Al Youm’ reports.

The Indian couple charred to death in a house fire in Dubai on Monday could have been murdered. “We have thought of an accident or a suicide but we have established that there is a criminal act,” Emirat Alyoum said, quoting a police source.

A source at Dubai Civil Defence told the paper that a call was received at 2.52pm about the fire in an apartment on the second floor of the residential building in Al Baraha.

Fire crews found the bodies of a young woman and man completely burnt inside the room. Dubai Police then sent criminal investigation and forensic teams to the site.

A security source told ‘Emarat Al Youm’ that the likelihood of suicide was also considered.

The families of the deceased have been given the bodies, after the completion of forensic tests.
