Assault and molestation counterclaims dropped
After reaching reconciliation, the Dubai Court of Misdemeanours, dismissed a case of an Egyptian couple who allegedly assaulted their Filipina maid claiming she had abused their six-year-old son.
FR, 37, an architect, and his wife, DN, were accused of assaulting RP, 28, and causing her injuries.
However, before the case could be heard an agreement was reached between the couple and the maid and the case was dismissed.
According to the records, the victim RP was assaulted by her employers with wire and wood so she jumped from the window of the flat in the fifth floor to adjacent flat on the same floor in Al Barsha area and asked for help.
“The couple assaulted me repeatedly with an electrical wire and a piece of wood if I erred in duties, but I was never able to report them to police or seek help because I am always locked,” she testified.
The couple confessed to beating the maid. They said that they have done so after the wife discovered that the maid molested her six-year-old son.
DN testified that on October 23, 2010 she asked RP to change her son's clothes and when she walked into the room she saw her touching him inappropriately. She said she lost her temper and grabbed the maid by the hair and beat her. Then she and her husband locked her inside the house and went to a police station to report the incident and police asked for reports in order to register the complaint.
“Apart from that my son and daughter told me that the maid often scratched them with her nails,” she testified.
A doctor testified that the couple asked him to not question their son about the molestation allegations because it had affected him emotionally.
RP denied abusing either child, according to the records.
An agreement was reached between the couple and RP before it was heard by the Court and so the court dismissed the case.
