Assault and robbery over refusal to rent room

An Indian guard allegedly attacked a man with his friends and robbed him of his wallet which contained Dh10,300 and two mobile phones in revenge for not renting him a room in the victim’s villa.

According to the records, on June 4, at around 7am, NJJ, 23, who claimed he was under the influence of alcohol,  went with his friends to the house of Abdulrahman Sherokad, assaulted him and robbed him of his wallet and a Blackberry and Samsung mobile phones and ran away.

Sergeant Mohammed Abdullah testified that while was on duty the operation room informed him about a theft in Al Quoz area. The patrol moved to the location and saw the victim who told them about NJJ who assaulted him with his friends and robbed him of his wallet which contained Dh10,300 and mobile phones.

Corporal Ali Badulqader testified that the victim said that the accused came to him seeking to rent a room in his villa but as he refused because the accused has a bad reputation, he came later in the day with his friends and attacked and robbed him.

Two days later, the victim invited the accused to his house by telling him that he will give him some money if he returns his wallet which contained important documents. When the accused came, the victim grabbed him with the help of his friends and held him until the police arrived, the officer testified.

The accused admitted to the accusation and the court adjourned the case until December 1 for verdict.
